Understanding SIP

A Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) lets you invest a fixed amount in a mutual fund scheme at regular intervals — usually monthly — instead of committing a large sum all at once. Each installment buys units at that day's NAV, so over time you buy more units when prices are low and fewer when prices are high, averaging out your purchase cost.

The real driver of an SIP's long-term outcome isn't market timing — it's compounding and time in the market. Starting early and staying consistent through market ups and downs tends to matter far more than trying to invest at the "perfect" moment, which is difficult to predict reliably even for professionals.
